Thank you Freddie and Terry for building us such a beautiful home. We’ve been in the house over a month now, and we’re amazed at the beauty and quality of our home. Thanks for listening to us and for helping us along the way. We started planning for this home about 9 years ago. It took a long time to find the right acreage in the right subdivision, and then another year or so to find the right builder. We selected you guys before we even had house plans. At that time, we had an idea of what we wanted, but we needed a lot of help in getting our ideas on paper. Plus we lived about 2 hours away and we needed a builder we could trust. We needed someone that we could count on to make decisions on the spot with the end result being what we wanted. We have jobs where we can’t just leave on a moment’s notice. Since we lived so far away, we knew we wouldn’t be able to be out at the construction site every week. We needed a builder we could put our faith in. We had a list of several potential builders and one by one we crossed them off. In the end, we decided Heartwood was the best, and we chose wisely. Freddie attended every architect meeting. He helped us with the design, and with his experience and expertise greatly assisted us in getting our plans drawn up and finalized just the way we wanted. And he did this before we ever had a contract. Before the plans were finished, we knew we had picked the right builder and we decided that if we had gotten too carried away with the plans and the price was outside our budget, we would not go builder shopping. Instead, we would just start over with the plans until we got the price within our budget. We wanted a Heartwood home. From the time the house first began to the final walk through, we have been extremely pleased with our home. Terry made sure that our house was built far better than we had ever expected. He always made sure that the work was done to perfection. People say that building a home is very stressful, but you guys made it easy. Every time we had a suggestion, or wanted to change this or that, you guys were right there helping us make the right decisions, while keeping us on budget. If a problem popped up, you handled it perfectly. In the end, we were so amazed at all the extra touches that were included in our house that most builders don’t do. Everything was custom built and it is so beautiful and we are so proud of our home. We could go on and on. While we realize that we weren’t your only customers, you guys always treated us as if we were. Thank you for that and for everything else. You guys are amazing, and we are so very grateful.

When we decided to build our wonderful home in High Meadow Ranch, we did a great deal of research and selected Heartwood Homes to build our home. I was a Realtor for almost 25 years and had sold many homes that were “new” construction and observed many different builders -some great and some not so great. Frederick Roberts is definitely one of the best builders in the business. He has great attention to detail and builds a home that is constructed to the highest standards. During the entire process he was always patient and would offer suggestions when asked. Frederick’s favorite expression was ” no problem” and he made every effort to build a home for us that was exactly what we had in mind. Frederick also paid close attention to the financial part of the construction- it would be very easy to go over budget, and he kept excellent records and kept us informed of all expenses and would offer options to keep cost within our budget. We have been in our home almost a year and love it as much today as the day we moved into the house. One of the ways builders “drop the ball” is in warranty work. Heartwood Custom Homes always promptly returned our calls and took care of any issue without us ever having to make a second call. In early 2010 my wife and I decided that we were going to build a new home in the Lake Creek Forest Sub-Division. Once the decision was made on the floor plan, our next decision was on what Custom Builder we would choose to build our new home. We had researched numerous Custom Builders in the Houston area, before making our decision. Our decision was not solely based on price, but also quality of work. Our decision was to use Heartwood Custom Homes, and we are happy that we did. The process to build our home started with the initial meeting in December 2010, to complete the paperwork and plans. Shortly there after, in March 2011, we broke ground on our new home, and it was completed in August that same year. Building our home with Heartwood Custom Homes was the best decision we could have made. It’s a common thought that building a home is one of the most stressful events a person can go through. For us, that could not be further from the truth. Heartwood truly made it a stress-free and approachable process. They continually impressed us with their attention to detail, knowledge, and communication.
● Attention to Detail: Heartwood caught any plan discrepancies or errors before they occurred. If any errors did occur, they would be corrected almost immediately. The team was so on top of everything, we never had to worry about anything being rectified.

The process can be overwhelming, but their incredible knowledge of home construction design helped keep us sane. The dust has finally settled, and we have located socks which match so the time has come for us to share how completely thrilled and satisfied we are with the fabulous home Heartwood Homes created for us. When my wife and I decided to build a custom home in the Magnolia region we soon fell in love with High Meadow Estates. We knew the next step in the process would be picking a custom builder. As an orthopedic surgeon who was very busy in Sugar land I knew communication and our vision would be very important since I could not be in the area consistently. After obtaining many recommendations we decided to meet with Freddie with heartwood homes. From the first meeting I was very impressed with Freddie’s personality and organization. He was very attentive to the home we were trying to design which was a mid century modern home. Freddie was more than happy to help us anyway he could. He even helped us pick the lot. Once we started the building process I was immediately impressed with his attention to detail and with Freddie and Terry’s quality of work. As I previously stated communication was of utmost importance and we received emails and text weekly with the progress of the project. I felt Freddie and Terry were very attentive to our concerns throughout the time of the build. As we progressed through the building process we would meet with Freddie and Terry periodically and we immediately were flabbergasted with the quality of work. From the foundation to the framing to the roofing and all the way to the detail within the home itself. We also noted the quality of the subcontractor’s that were involved in the build as well. The quality in detail down to the molding is impeccable as well as the quality of the home itself. Needless to say the home turned out excellent and is beautiful. Since we moved in approximately a month to a month and a half ago we have had many people drive by and take pictures of the house because of the setting and the quality of the building noted. I have had many of my cohorts in medicine complain to me about the disasters of their custom home builds. In our situation it was a complete opposite. We are more than happy with our home and with Freddie and Terry and the whole building process. In summary I feel that the home turned out even better than we thought when we started this project with a piece of paper and a design. I feel that we were kept abreast of every situation in the building process and again in the home turned out even better than we could have ever thought. We have told you bits and pieces of this story on different occasions but we wanted to capture on paper and send it to you. We currently live between Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where our Houston based company currently has us assigned and the new home you built for us in Magnolia. We had sold our home in Katy in 2009 and moved to Bahrain on a company assignment, then transferred to Abu Dhabi in 2011 and currently have been here in Abu Dhabi three years. We have moved a lot over the past 15 years wherever work and the company have sent us and have been planning that “final” place to put our roots down for several years. Each time we moved it literally seemed like the company would put us in contact with a real estate agent, we would tell her what we wanted a couple of months before moving, she would locate a list of houses, we would land and in three days buy a house, move in and go to work. They were all nice houses but this time when we returned to the states we didn’t want just any house, there were certain features it had to have to meet our requirements. Starting in 2011 every time we would go home we would have several houses picked out from HAR.COM to go look at and they were all nice but something always was lacking on our “Must Have” list. We didn’t want to build because “How in the world can you trust someone building you a house when you are half way around the world from where they are spending your money?” On our trip at the beginning of 2011 we had some houses picked out to go look at west of Houston but again they were “Just not quite right”. By accident we found a home in High Meadow Ranch in Magnolia to go look at, a beautiful home but “No back Porch”, one of the “Must Haves”. Ana fell in love with High Meadow Ranch when we were driving through so something made us look again in HAR to see if anything else was available. We found a couple more that semi met our criteria and Ana insisted on seeing them even though I knew we were not going to like them but “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, so here we go. What we did find was a Real Estate agent that was a pretty amazing lady. After talking awhile with her the question came up “Why don’t you build”. Well, we gave her the deeper reason, my grandfather and father were builders, my first job in life was building houses and working around and seeing the quality of some of the work today I just DID NOT trust a builder when we were going to be half way around the world while the home of our dreams was being built. Nothing doing she HAD to introduce us to ya’ll. Something I came find out later and maybe it was just fate on that day she drove us down the road to a house that was being built and both of you were on the job together, something I would come to find out over the next year happened rarely that you two were both in the same place at one time. Jumping to the point, the questions I asked that day and the honesty in which the answers came surprised me greatly. Ana and I talked it over between ourselves, bought a great piece of land, drew a “rough sketch” house plan in our home computer and with no promise of anything other than “If we decided not to use Heartwood to construct that we would pay the Architect” you took our rough drawn plan with a list of ideas and wants to an Architect and she went to work taking our simple plan and turning it into something beautiful to our hearts. About 2 ½ or 3 months after our initial encounter a plan & price was agreed, signed and the road to the end commenced. From that initial “Intent” agreement to 12 months later almost from the exact date from initial intent we slept in our house the first time. The year was a whirlwind. We would fly home for a week, never more than 2 weeks, you would have everything that we needed to accomplish lined out, we would pick, re-pick, and triple pick everything out and disappear on a 16 hour plane ride back to Abu Dhabi with our picked out list, our trust and hearts in your hands. Mr. Freddie, Mr. Terry, you’re some pretty amazing and awesome guys according to Isabella, our five year old. Ana and I tend to agree with her a lot. During that year there were from one to several emails every week, mostly our curious to see how things were going or ya’ll answering a million questions that we had sent. Ya’ll sent us some pretty amazing update pictures each week and neither one of us could sleep on Friday nights waiting on the “End of the Week Friday evening Pictures” (We are 10 hours ahead here in Abu Dhabi so when ya’ll sent them Friday evening we would get them somewhere between 2 and 4 AM in the morning) We were up at the crack of dawn Saturdays wanting to see the weeks pics. You guys did an amazing job, change orders were never an issue. We would come up with some different idea, ya’ll would come back with several alternatives on how what we wanted could be accomplished and here we would go forward. Not one complaint, we have a great home today and you guys are the reason. Quality, can do attitude, meeting the schedule, and always being there when we had a question, concern, or possible issue ready to solve it in the utmost professional manner and go forward. Before it was over with I think my wife and daughter trust ya’lls opinions better than they do mine. Building a home from half way around the world, ya’ll helping us to stick to the planned budget, and turning out with the great home that we have was unbelievable.

We are settling in and enjoying our beautiful, comfortable Heartwood Home. To say that Heartwood Custom Homes builds a quality home would be an understatement! Anyone observing your work from start to finish can plainly see that. What may not be as evident to potential new home clients are the many personal attributes that put you guys “head and shoulders” above other custom home builders. Some of these qualities are: your total commitment to client, your insistence upon top quality throughout, terrific organizational skills, creativity with an eye for design; all reflected in the pride you take in building a home. We have been in our home for over a month now. WOW! We just can’t begin to thank you for the wonderful home you built. We are so thrilled with the way it turned out. The quality of the work you do. The patience you have for the many changes along the way; especially your flexibility and fairness in making those changes. Our home was more complex then the traditional home. We wanted a two-story facade, in a one-story house. We wanted an old-world European look with lots of unique style. You provided all the details needed to accomplish the look we wanted, from corbels to cedar beams, copper roofing to cupola, not to forget the beautiful wrought iron courtyard to set it all off. The beauty of the huge stone fireplace, knotty alder cabinetry, glass block showers; but especially all the archways and detailed crown moulding. Danny has to show everyone the base moulding even in the garage!!! Our best friends from California were here visiting in December. He is also a custom home builder (second generation). He spent two days inspecting the entire home. He concluded you guys did a great job! He could find no complaints from the foundation to the attic. This was an exceptional endorsement from a true perfectionist. This was not a surprise for us we already knew what a wonderful job you did. My husband and I bought land and began building our dream home in our heads. We had no idea who we would choose to build it. From day one until well beyond our final walk-through, Freddie and Terry have been the best choice in this custom-home adventure. Freddie was with us at the beginning with Mark Todd Architects, quietly listening and soaking in our vision at every meeting. Terry and Freddie took our plans and our vision and months later we actually walked into the dream home that we had envisioned in our minds! Being our first custom-home build, we had lots of questions and a few reservation; however Terry and Freddie always eased our minds. Communication with them was a strong plus. Every Friday there would be an e-mail sent to us to update progress. Terry and Freddie were diligent in responding to text, emails and phone calls.
